Hi,

Does anyone know the order-of-battle for the French and Prussians at this battle - ideally down to battalion details.

Are there any good books that describe the campaign in 1814?

These battles seem to be small enough to play with GdB at 6mm scale, possibly with slight reductions in the troop strengths.

Anyone any thoughts?

Probably too tardy for you but...
Apparently there is a Hourtoulle book in the pipeline about the 1814 campaign. More expensive than and fewer pages than the Borodino, Austerlitz etc. books, so I don't know what the format will be. It is advertised on Amazon, with a due date in April.

good to hear about the Hourtoulle book Apparently there's also a Nafziger in the pipeline on the 1814 campaign.
If you can't wait for those, the French magazine Tradition is doing one of its 'hors serie' numbers - ie specials - on the 1814 campaign. It is No 31 'La Campagne de la France' and is out this week. I ordered one today It's kind of comparable to an Osprey, for the same sort of money.

Gents,
Ive now got my 1814 'Tradition' Mag. It's actually meant to be the first of a two parter and doesn't therefore do Montmirail. It's strengths are very good illustration of period uniform detail and some good OBs. Weaknesses: no maps of the individual engagements and rather poor accounts of the battlefield action.
I shall definitely be waiting for Hourtoulle and/or Nafziger too.
regards
EC
