Albuera 1811 scenario expansion
Some people have complained to me that General de Brigade
scenarios tend to lack cavalry. To remedy that, and to
make one particular scenario more varied and interesting
and to allow it to support more players, I present an
expansion to the Albuera 1811 battle scenario.
To expand the scenario, add the following:
1. Terrain
Extend the width of the battlefield by 1 foot (for 15mm,
2 feet for 25mm) to the West (French left, British right).
In this space place a small oval plateau perpendicular to
the main plateau, with more than half of its surface on the
French half of the table. Rules for the other plateau apply
to this one. There should be enough space between the
two plateaus for a column of divisions to pass through.
2. Orders of Battle
Add the following to the Allied Order of Battle:
arrival
Gen. Lumley (Br.)
4th Dragoons 18 figs. Veteran turn 3
Gen. Loy (Sp.)
Santiago Line Cavalry 18 figs. Second Line at start
Place the Santiago regiment to the right of the Spanish light
cavalry. The British dragoons enter behind the Spanish cavalry.
Add the following to the French Order of Battle:
arrival
Bg. Gen. Bon
4th Dragoons 24 figs. Line turn 4 point D
20th Dragoons 24 figs. Second Line turn 4
Foot Artillery battery 3 gun models Line turn 4
Treat the British and French Dragoons as Heavy Cavalry, but -1
in melee. Treat the Spanish Line cavalry as Heavy Cavalry, but
-2 in melee.
Latour-Maubourg is a General de Division. He still commands the
Vistula Lancers and the hussars directly and he now commands
Gen. Bon. Soult can give orders to L-M, but not Bon. L-M must
give Bon his orders. Hopefully this will reflect some of the
paralysis of the French cavalry that actually occurred.
All new units go over to HOLD orders once they arrive on the table.
Both Spanish cavalry units require a roll of 10 from Beresford
to change their orders.
Note: Players familiar with this battle will realize that the
scenario OBs are reduced by a factor of 2 compared to the actual
lists.
