Greetings from the Auvergne near the charming town of Ambert,
Just wondered if there are any 28mm Napoleonic GDB folk nearby apart from me and my chum Chris.
We play most Wednesdays and some views of the current Prussian vs French 1813 confrontation can be seen at:
A brief description of the action so far is set out below:
All the Prussians started on hold orders.
In total there's about 12 brigades of Prussians and 14 of French involved but they're not all on the table yet!
Scenario centred on some over-confident Prussians beginning to concentrate along a river bank and controlling 3 bridges with all the French thought to be on the river's far bank and some miles away.
However, the Prussian pickets, now trussed-up somewhere by French Hussars, had failed to warn their chums that the clever French were a lot closer than thought and were now commencing a flank attack using 2 temporary bridges!
Mein Gott!!
Not a good start for my Prussian Reserve Infantry Brigade who advanced bravely but their nice 6-pounder 4 gun foot battery routed when the French Lancers charged them, and, the resulting Brigade morale test caused the Brigade to break and fall back 18 inches.
Comment: why is it that when my cavalry charge guns they are blown away and when others' cavalry charge my guns it's the guns which are routed?
Not to be outdone on both banks of the centre bridge 3 French Hussar Regiments charged and routed 2, albeit weak, regiments of Landwehr Cavalry.
The French cavalry having achieved these victories are now retiring, "horses-blown", to their own lines and it may be that I cannot catch them with my newly arrived Regiment of Uhlans and 2 Regiments of Kurassiers in time to prevent them from re-grouping.
Meanwhile, reinforcements are flooding-in for both sides.
Please do get in touch if you're interested in a game sometime.
Cheers.
Paul
