Ok, have always been interested in WWII (Napoloenic always will be first love).

Created a US force recently for Flames of War. Great flashy product, but the game play was much to much for me, finally getting me to sell the army, and finally paint the Napoleonic army I have wanted to do for 10 years.

But I feel the need to diversify.

Can some one break down these rules for me, scale time, forces needed to play a game on the tabletop, etc. It will help me to decide whether to buy the rules or not. Flames of War was a bad experience, creating an army (couldn't play it before hand), then finding I really didn't like the system.

Now owning GdB, I guess the quality of the rules would be up there, just after some people's opinions.

Any replys appreciated.

Having tried 'Rapid Fire' and 'Firefly' WW11 rules, this set of rules has a great feel to it. Has created a compromise between speed of play, ease of understanding and realism - a difficult balance to strike.
As you can see from the forum, if you have any questions, there are people out there willing to offer guidance and advise.
I wish these rules had been available when I first ventured into WW11.

Haven't played Rapid Fire, but have played Flames of War, Firefly and Crossfire. Can't say I really enjoyed the last two. Flames of War was ok, if slightly Warhammerish. Looking for a fast playing set of rules, which gives the 'feel' for WWII battles, not just playing a game, but playing a simulation, so to speak. Will probably buy the rules eventually.
